Ramsgate Beach on the south coast, KwaZulu-Natal

Ramsgate beach is a "one-of-a-kind" experience.  It is surrounded by natural vegetation that has been transformed into a park-like area.   The beach is wide, sandy and based at the end of an estuary.   Pedal boats and recreational activities are on offer in the estuary area which is closed to swimming.  Restaurants are located in the adjacent area.      Lifeguards are on duty throughout the year as the water is warm and the sub-tropical climate allows for swimming at Ramsgate throughout the year.   Plenty of interpretive signage, and information about local environmental issues.   A whale-watching site has been developed opposite the beach.  The beach can be reached via the N2 highway southwards from Durban . Pass through the town of Margate and a short way on, one will find the turning to Ramsgate beach.
