Margate is one of the most popular bathing beaches on the south coast in KwaZulu-Natal . With adjacent restaurants, safe swimming pools and the recreational area in the estuary to the north of the swimming area, Margate offers holiday-makers a wonderful range of experiences. The beach is located in the heart of the town of Margate. The warm waters make swimming possible 365 days of the year. The beach can be very busy during the summer and Easter holidays. Top-class lifeguards are on duty throughout the year and environmental education programmes are run during the holiday seasons. One can hire beach umbrellas and shaded areas are available fro hire on the beach.
Access to the beach is via the N2 highway south of Durban . Follow road direction signs to the centre of Margate where the main beach is easily located.
